Haven't done one of these in a while....
In my life this week… I finally got some ink and have been just printing up a storm! Now I've got to put aside some time to get laminating Olivia's Tot School stuff.
In our homeschool this week… This week was blazingly hot, hitting over 100F.
Brianna lived in the pool from about 9am til supper. We did school after Olivia went to bed once it was cooler.
My favorite thing this week was… Watching the garden grow
What’s working/not working for us… Our new schedule is definitely working for us. I print up all of Brianna's work over the weekend and she has the week to finish it. She's been doing really well with this.
Questions/thoughts I have… For those who school year round... do you have a lighter schedule? Or do you just plug on through? *Because* we school year round I know we have a lighter schedule than most on a daily basis. We'll be going a touch lighter over the summer, but still continuing all of our subjects.
Things I’m working on… I made up garden tracking sheets. Brianna and I are going to closely follow our veggie garden and track anything interesting. Brianna loves the garden, so will hopefully like this too.
I’m cooking… I'm trying to stick with a meal plan (see the sidebar). For the most part, it's working. I already have a quite low grocery bill, but with Lee laid off still, I'd like it to be lower.

Wow! And I thought 80s were tough! Us Mainers aren't used to HOT temperatures! LOL
ReplyDeleteOur garden has been loving the warmer temperatures too!
No help on schooling year-round. We have always gotten our days in between September and early May to have off the warmest, sunniest days. Doesn't mean that learning stops - we've been doing some quick, fun experiments, reading, IDing plants and animals, watching the History Channel...it's just different, relaxed, non-textbook work.

It's scorching here in Texas too! My children have spent a lot of time at the pool as well. I'm so thankful our complex has one!!
ReplyDeleteWe are schooling this Summer and our schedule will be lighter for Summer only-at least that is my plan so far. However, I'm considering having months where the kids have a couple of weeks off at a time so that we can spend more time baking and doing things to celebrate Christ during the Christmas Season for example. I cannot wait to start a garden when we get back home to Oregon!
I've been loving watching our garden grow, too. I am just hoping we get a sunny summer. Oregon's summer last year was dismal and no one's garden grew much.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to figure out how to summer. We started homeschooling in December so we're pretty new to it. My original plan had been to school on days my husband works [3 days/week] and not when he's off. This is our first week, and I found days he was working, I didn't want to crack open the books! I don't want to stop all together because I think math really suffers from a 2-3 month break. So I'm still trying to figure out what we're going to do.
